4 months

Our sweet peanut is 4 months old!

Stats:
Length:  2' 1" (25 inches long)
Weight:  12 pounds 8 ounces
Head:  41 cm or 16 or so inches

Parker had her four month well visit on Tuesday and impressed the doctor.  She received three shots, but handled them like a champ and has just been a little snoozy the last couple of days.  I'm not sure if she made a larger yelp from the booster shot or from the cold stethoscope.

Milestones:

  • Is a professional at rolling from back to tummy.  She is getting better and better at going from tummy to back.
  • Sustains anywhere from 20-45 minutes of tummy time in one session.
  • Can follow sound and turns her head toward it and she follows objects with her eyes really well.
  • Loves faces and enjoys mimicking smiles, sounds and sticking out her tongue and really seems to be recognizing faces and voices more and more.
  • Is using both hands to hold objects and place them in her mouth
  • Has found her feet and loves them, maybe more than mom and dad
  • Is really starting to laugh a lot...she is fairly ticklish and is enjoying quick games of peek-a-boo or I've got your tummy (or perhaps mommy enjoys them more?? this is yet to be decided).
Fun facts:
  • Loves baths but likes to use bath time to stick her feet in her mouth, but seems to wonder why it's harder because they are wet and slippery.
  • Tends to only poop in the mornings for dad or while at school...It's been awhile since mom has seen a doozy...apparently our little talks during our late night nursing sessions are working.  :)
  • She sleeps for a good 5 hour stretch most nights and wakes about 1 or so to eat and then is up between 4:30 and 5:00...We hope this extends a little bit.  Mommy is tired of having people at work ask her if she is tired...apparently my eyes aren't hiding it well.
  • Loves books and will sit still and look at the pages and listen for at least one whole book and is even starting to reach to help turn/eat  pages at times...Current reads:
    • Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can you?
    • The Pokey Little Puppy
    • Biscuit's Halloween (Thanks Aunt Tanya)
    • Where is Baby's Belly Button
    • Goodnight Moon
  • Loves to be outside and seems to be enthralled with the trees, leaves and shadows...We definitely may have a nature girl on our hands.
  • Parker is an artist and has been doing some paint projects at school...they are really quite impressive for four months and I'm glad she is at school when I hear about things she does that I would never think to do with her at such a young age...I'm pretty sure she is a genius, but will keep you posted!
We have had a good fall; Gene and I are not looking forward to raking leaves this weekend, but we are looking forward to carving some pumpkins and celebrating P's first Halloween...Any guesses on what she will be dressed as?  We are pretty sure she will be the sweetest thing anyone has ever seen!  ;)
